Listening to someone does take all of you. Formulating a response while someone is speaking to us, or speaking aggressively over someone to be heard to drown them out is a call for self reflection. Where is our heart? What part of US needs to be heard?
Listening whether to another human’s words or the coo of the dove over the lawnmower, or the wind in the trees or the voice of the heart, requires silence within, receptivity and presence of mind and body. It also require genuineness – to listen means we care.
Let us open further the ears of our hearts to listen to one another.
